How do I create accounts for additional editors on my site?

  1. Log in to the site with your CNetID.
    • yoursitename.uchicago.edu/wp-admin
  2. Navigate to UC Template > Dashboard.

  3. Click the Users menu item.

  4. Next click the Add New button at the top of the page

  5. Please note that the user’s email address MUST be in the form UChicago email address.

How do I embed a Google map?

The Google Maps plugin allows you to easily embed, customize, and use Google maps in posts, pages and your sidebar. You can also display local images and let your site visitors get directions in seconds. Please visit http://help.edublogs.org/working-with-the-maps-plugin for more details.

How do I embed JavaScript code on my site?

For security reasons, users are not permitted to embed JavaScript on their site.

How do I embed a video on my site?

How can I track the number of visits to my site? Can I add Google Analytics tracking?

You can do this by using the Google Analytics plugin. There are detailed descriptions here.

How do I restrict a page so that visitors must sign in with their CNetID and password to view the content?

You can control who can read a post or the location of where a post is displayed using the Visibility area on the Publish module.Public means the post is visible to anyone.Using the Visibility options you can:

  1. Stick a post to the front page – The post will be stuck to the top of the blog’s front page. This is handy for notifying students of important dates and provides assignment information or share important information with parents.
  2. Password Protect a Post – The post is protected with a password you set. Any reader that has the password can view a protected post.
  3. Make a post private – Posts marked as private are only visible to users who are logged into their account; and have been assigned the role of Editors and Administrators. Logged out users don’t see private posts.

Can I add collapsible, accordion-style text to my content?

  1. From your Plugins page, Activate the Live Shortcodes plugin.

  2. Then on your Add New Post page, click Add Shortcodes.
  3. Click on Accordion

What is the differences between Posts and Pages?

The Dashboard

- Click Settings to go to the settings page and configure things like Time, Tagline, or Site Title.

- Click posts to see a list of all your posts. There will be other functionalities on that page.

- Click Plugins to see all plugins

- Click on Pages to see a list of all your pages. There will be other functionality on that page.

- Click on Media to see a list of images, audio, and videos that have been uploaded to the site. Here you can also upload others.

- Click Links to see a list of links that have been added to the site. You can add other links as well.

-Click Events to see events added to the site. There you can also create new events.

- Click Comments to see all comments made to posts.

- Click Users to see all users. There you can add new users, and also delete new users.

How do I insert a local calendar into a post (not google calendar)?

While creating a post, in the WYSIWYG editor, you will see a calendar icon. Click the calendar icon.


Make your selection and click OK. This will insert a calendar into that post.

How do I add Events to a non-Google Calendar?

In the Dashboard, click the Events menu. Then click Add New Event

This will open a page that looks like a post creation page. Fill out the details needed. And publish after you are done.

What are Widgets?

The term widget refers to any tool or content that you add, arrange or remove from the sidebar(s) of your site — these are the blocks that make up your sidebar.To change widgets, visit the Appearance > Widgets screen in your dashboard or the widget area in the Customizer.
