Business Objects - Launch Pad - Single Sign-On (SSO)

This article explains the behavior of Business Objects BI Launch Pad, utilizing Shibboleth, as a single sign-on mechanism.

When you log onto Business Objects, Launch Pad, you will be presented with the Shibboleth log on page.

Once you have logged on through the above log on page, you will be taken to the Launch Pad Home Page, or to your preferred location, if you've set your preferences differently. In the event that your user session times out, you will be sent back to the login page for Business Objects once you click OK on the dialog box that says "Session timed out". As long as you do not close the browser completely, such as closing all tabs, your shibboleth session will stay active. All that is necessary is to enter the URL again and you will be taken back into Business Objects BI Launch Pad, because since the browser has not been closed, you are not logged out, because the Shibboleth session is still valid.

Once you completely shut down the browser, it will be necessary for you to log in again through Shibboleth.
