CNetID - Update Passwords for Your Personal Devices

Update Your Secure Wireless Password for uchicago-secure or eduroam on a Laptop

  1. In the icon tray, click the wireless network icon to see a list of detected wireless networks. If you are unsure which icon is associated with wireless networking, hover over each icon to see a short description that should help you identify the right one. For PC laptop users, the icon tray generally in the lower right corner of the screen. Mac laptop users can usually find it in the upper right corner.

  2. Click the name of the network associated with your CNet account. For most users, this will be either "uchicago-secure" or "eduroam". Then click Connect.
  3. Enter your CNetID and your new password in the pop-up window, and click Connect or press Enter.

Update Your Email Application Password on an iPhone or iPad

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings menu. The icon is on the home screen, and resembles a set of gears.
  2. In the Settings menu, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  3. Choose the email application that syncs with your xMail account. For example, if you use Outlook, choose Exchange.

  4. Tap the email account associated with your CNetID.

  5. Update your password in the Password field, and tap Done. The device will verify the new password by establishing a connection with the xMail server.

Update Your Secure Wireless Password on an iPhone or iPad

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings menu. The icon is on the home screen, and resembles a set of gears.
  2. Select Wi-Fi.

  3. Tap the uchicago-secure or eduroam network, whichever you use to connect securely to the campus network.

  4. Enter your CNetID and your new CNet password, then tap Join. Your device will verify the new password, and you will be connected.

Update Your Email Application Password on an Android Smartphone or Tablet

  1. While in your email application, press Menu on your device. This button looks different on different Android devices. A few examples are provided below:

  2. Select the Settings menu.

  3. Select the email account associated with your CNetID.

  4. Select Password, and update your password. Then tap Done. Your device will then verify your new password by establishing a connection with the xMail server.

Update Your Secure Wireless Password on an Android Smartphone or Tablet

  1. Go to the Settings menu and select Wireless and Networks. Then select Wi-Fi Settings. Select the name of the network associated with your CNet account. For most users, this will be either uchicago-secure or eduroam.

  2. Select Modify network config.

  3. Update the password field with your new CNet password, then tap Connect. Your device will verify the new password, and you will be connected.
