Watch The Video
The University of Chicago recently rolled out 2Factor Authentication. This allows for added security when logging into many U of C applications. You can register several different kinds of devices including tablets and smartphones; another of these devices is the landline.
You should first go to 2fa.uchicago.edu and select the Go to 2Factor button.
If you have previously registered at least one device, you will be taken to your ‘Manage Devices’ page. On this page, you can see your registered devices as well as whether you have opted in. If you wish to register a new device, simply click the Register a Device button on the left of your screen. However, if you have never used 2Factor before and have no active devices, you will be taken directly to the ‘Register a Device’ page.
You should select the landline as your device type.
Then, you must enter your phone number and, if appropriate, your extension. Please note that you cannot enter your number in the university five digit format, you must enter the entire number, including area code.
Using the landline you just added, you will receive an automated phone message. This prerecorded message will give you a verification code which you must then enter on the page.
You should now see the success screen and view the landline you just added on your ‘Manage Devices’ page.
