Register a Tablet [2:49]
The University of Chicago recently rolled out 2Factor Authentication. This allows for added security when logging into many U of C applications. You have the option to register several different kinds of devices including smartphones and landlines; another of these devices is the tablet.
You should first go to 2fa.uchicago.edu and select the Go to 2Factor button.
Now, if you already have devices registered, you will be taken to your ‘Manage Devices’ page. Here, you can see your registered devices. All you have to do is select the Register a Device button on the left of your screen to register additional devices.
However, if you have not used 2Factor before and have no active devices, you will be prompted to register a device to continue.
You should first select the tablet as your device type.
Then, you must enter your operating system as well as a name for your tablet. This can be a very simple name if you wish, but you must enter a tablet name or 2Factor will not allow you to continue.
You must now download the Duo Mobile app on your tablet. You can find this free at your app store. Then, check the box that you have installed the app and continue.
Now, scan the Duo Activation Code; all you have to do is select the + button in the upper right corner of the app and then press the scan barcode button. You are not required to have any sort of special barcode reader on your tablet; simply hold your tablet up and scan the barcode on the computer screen. Once you have scanned that code, you will see the Success screen on your computer.
Your tablet should appear on your list of registered devices on your ‘Manage Devices’ page.
