The University of Chicago recently rolled out 2Factor Authentication. This allows for added security when logging into many U of C applications. You have the option to register several kinds of devices including tablets and landlines; the most common of these is the smartphone.
To register a device, you should go to 2fa.uchicago.edu and select the Go to 2Factor button. Now, you will sign in with your CNetID and password.
Since you have not previously enrolled any devices using 2FA, you will be immediately directed to the 'Register a Device' page.
First, you should select that you wish to enroll a smartphone.
You should choose your operating system.
Now, you will be prompted to download the Duo Mobile App. You can find this free at your app store. Check the box at the bottom of the page confirming that you installed the app and continue.
You will now see the Duo Activation Code; all you have to do is select the + button in the upper right corner of the app and then press the ‘Scan Barcode’ button. You are not required to have any sort of special barcode reader on your phone; simply hold your phone up and scan the barcode on the computer screen. Once you have scanned that code, you will see the Success screen on your computer.
Under ‘Your Registered Devices’ on the Manage Devices page, you will see your newly added cell phone number.
