Business Objects - WebI - Changing Java 7 security settings to Run the WebI Advanced Report Editor

This article explains how to change the Java security settings in Java 7 to allow the Business Objects WebI Advanced editor to start without an error message.

The Java 7 security settings need to be changed to prevent getting a ThinCadenza.jar error with Java 7 when editing/modifying WebI reports using the Advanced editor. To change these settings requires logging into Windows as a user with administrator rights.

Alternately the User can change their InfoView preferences (for Web Intelligence) to use the Interactive editor.

Steps to change Java 7 security settings

  1. Go to Control Panel (on the windows start menu)
  2. Click on Programs
  3. Click Java to open the Java Control Panel
  4. Click on the Security tab
  5. Click on the "Edit Site List..." button
  6. Click the Add button
  7. Enter (copy & paste recommended)
  8. Click the Add button
  9. Enter (copy & paste recommended)
  10. Click OK to save the changes.
  11. Click OK to exit.

You should now be able to create or modify a Webi report and have it open the Java Report Panel without any errors.
