UChicago Sites - Content - Editing the Left Navigation

This article explains how to update the left navigation in UChicago Sites.

Updating Navigation

To add a page to your left navigation, first edit the page by clicking the edit link in the content menu, or go directly to the page and click the edit tab just below the title.

From the edit screen, scroll down to the "Menu settings" towards the bottom of the page. To add this page to your left navigation, click the "Provide a menu link" checkbox and then click Save.

The link to your page should now appear in the left navigation, assuming your page is published.

Reordering Links in the Navigation

Site Owners and Content Editors can reorder the links in the left navigation, click on the "Edit left navigation" shortcut. On the following screen, you can drag and drop menu items so that they appear in the order you want. You can also move menu items left and right to indicate that they are "subpages" of another page. Subpages only appear in the left navigation when the user has first navigated to the parent page. All the links you see under the "Quick Start Guide" in the left navigation right now are good examples of subpages.
