Chalk - Course Site Template
This article explains the features of the new course template in Chalk.
The Chalk Course site template, designed with considerable feedback from faculty and students, offers a simplified left-hand menu, improved contextual help and a new course home page.
Simplified Course Site Template
- Course Home Page: The course home page is now the default entry point for course sites. By default it has a Design Your Site, Calendar, Announcement, and Course Tools for Students modules. Instructors can customize the page by adding new modules, rearranging and removing modules from the Home Page. Instructors can also select a different entry point for their course page. To change the entry point, go to Customization > Teaching Style > Select Entry Point, make the selection from the drop-down menu and click Submit.
- Reduced Menu Items: The left-hand navigation menu has been simplified to provide the most used menu items. Instructors can customize the menu items by adding new menu items, reordering the menu, and editing the items on the menu. See related articles below for step by step directions for modifying the left hand navigation.
- Better In Application Help You will notice there are several places we have added better in application help, including an Instructional module on the home page, and on the course materials menu item. Additional help is available for some tools by toggling the question mark next to the edit mode toggle .
What happens to Copied Courses?
Chalk courses sites that are copied from previous quarters will not change to the new course site template. However, instructors can customize the left-hand navigation in the same way.
