Mathematica - Changing Network License Server (Windows 7 or Later)

This article describes how to change the UChicago site license server in Mathematica to the newest server on a computer running Windows 7 or higher.

  1. Delete the file named mathpass.
    • Click the start button.
    • Search for cmd.exe.
    • In the resulting window, type the following: del C:\ProgramData\Mathematica\Licensing\mathpass
    • Press the Return or Enter key.
    • When successful, command line prompt returns to original drive letter.

  2. Launch Mathematica.

  3. Click the Other ways to activate button from the Product Activation window.

  4. Select Connect to a network license server as the activation method.

  5. Enter lic-math.uchicago.edu in the Server name field, then click the Activate button.
