Is This Email a Phishing Attempt?

This article explains what phishing is and how to report suspicious emails you receive to your UChicago email account.

Phishing is the act of masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication, typically email or web pages, in order to obtain personal information (e.g. usernames, passwords, date of birth, Social Security number, credit card numbers) from a victim. IT Services maintains extensive documentation on phishing for campus users on the Safe Computing site.

If you are concerned about the authenticity of an email, especially one associated with a University service, send a copy of the email with full headers to the IT Services Security Team.
