OS - Determining Whether Your PC is 32-bit or 64-bit (Win)

This article explains how to tell if you are using a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows.

Windows 10

  1. Right-click the Start button, then select Control Panel.

  2. Browse to System & Security > System.

  3. Information about whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows will be displayed next to "System type:".

Windows 8

  1. If you have a keyboard and mouse, press Windows-X, click Control Panel and skip the next two steps.

  2. Otherwise, from the Start screen, swipe up and tap All apps.

  3. Scroll to the right and tap Control Panel.

  4. Click or tap System and Security.

  5. Click or tap System.

  6. Information about whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows will be displayed next to "System type:".

Windows 7

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Right-click on Computer and click Properties.
