UCAT (UChicago Card and Account Tool) Pre-feed FAQ
This article explains answers to frequently asked questions about UCAT (UChicago Card and Account Tool) Prefeed.
UCAT is the UChicago Card and Account Tool; it is a web-based application that allows a university employee to be "pre-fed" into the MCDB, prior to the UChicago Human Resources feed. This account can be entered or maintained in the University's central person registry (MCDB) so that services can be tracked.
TAGs: All Trusted Agents have access automatically to the UCAT Pre-feed.
HRAs: UChicago Human Resources determines who has approval to receive access to this application. HR satellite office personnel who need to create and maintain Pre-Feed records are the intended audience. After an approved person completes training, s/he can access the application. NOTE: Only full-time non-student staff may be authorized. HRAs can contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any access and training questions.
Be sure to close out ALL tabs of the browser. Use this link: ucat.uchicago.edu and click on "Employee Prefeed." Firefox is the preferred browser (though others should work), but if a user reports issues, please have them try again using Firefox. If problems persist, please have the user close out of ALL tabs of the browser (to close Shibboleth) and then re-open Firefox and go to ucat.uchicago.edu.
I clicked on 'No Match' but got this error message: "An error has occurred. Please email email@example.com." What can I do?
Clear the cache from your browser (see some helpful instructions on how to do this here: kb.iu.edu/d/ahic). Then close out ALL tabs of the browser. Open Firefox and use this link: ucat.uchicago.edu and click on "Employee Prefeed," that is, after clearing the cache, try the "Login errors" steps, outlined in the question above.
I have policy questions such as what value should go in a field, who should get a prefeed account... who should I contact?
No, only if the incoming employee needs to have a CNetID on their initial start date.
The maximum expiration is 1 year, but typically the regular HR feed will begin to include the incoming person long before that.
Should part-time and Temporary employees who are not benefits eligible be able to be entered into the Pre-Feed?
Yes, part-time and Temporary staff may be entered into UCAT HR Pre-Feed, as needed (if they need to claim a CNetID or other allowed university services prior to their entry by HR).
Although part-time and Temporary staff may be entered into UCAT HR Pre-Feed, they are not eligible for a UChicago Card. They are eligible for the Campus Card.
You can note that in the UCAT HR Pre-Feed Comments field.
You can maintain the Pre-Feed record using the same application- up until the person is entered into the HR Employee Database. After that, the record should be updated by HR.
Search for the person and on their "Maintain" page, click Expire Prefeed. This will initiate a closure process and their UChicago card will be deactivated.
Search for the person and on their "Maintain" page, click Revoke Card Eligibility.
MCDB = the Master Constituency DataBase; it is the UChicago central person registry.
