SharePoint 2010 - Configure Pass Through Authentication (Internet Explorer)
This article explains how to configure Internet Explorer to allow your network username and password to be automatically sent to a website. The procedure in this article will only work for SharePont 2010 sites if your computer is joined to the UCHAD or ADLOCAL Active Directory domains and the SharePoint site is configured to accept NTLM authentication. All of the template sites at https://collaborate.uchicago.edu accept NTLM authentication. If your computer is managed by ITS, these setting have already been applied to your computer. If you are unable to make the changes detailed in this article, contact your local IT support group to make the changes for you.
- From the Tools menu select Internet Options. (In IE9 you may not see a tools menu, but instead an icon that looks like a gear which is shown in the second image below.)
- Select the Security tab followed by the Local intranet icon and then click the Sites button.
- On the Local intranet window click the Advanced button.
- Enter the URL of the portal site as in the image below and click the Add button.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
