Chalk - Make Course Tools Available/Unavailable (Instructors)
This article explains how an instructor can make a course tool available or unavailable to students.
Why make tools available in Chalk?
There are several course tools available for Instructors to incorporate into a course site. Students are able to use course tools that the Instructor believes will be most beneficial and engaging to students. Course tools can be made unavailable (and hidden) from student view if an Instructor believes the tool may not enhance the student's learning experience.
Access Tool Availability Settings
- On the Control Panel, under Customization, select Tool Availability.
- Click the Checkboxes to select (make available) or deselect (make unavailable) various tools in the course. The tools are listed in alphabetical order.
Note: A disabled checkbox indicates the tool has been turned off by the Chalk administrator. Tools with a diagonal line DO NOT have settings that are customizable in Chalk.
- Click the Submit button to allow students to access the course tools.
How Students Access Available Tools
Students can click Tools on the Course Menu to access the tools made available by the Instructor (as shown below). An Instructor may also add a course tool to a specific content area in Chalk.
