Chalk - Reply to a Discussion Board Forum (Students)

This article explains how students respond to a discussion board forum created by their Instructor in a Chalk course site.

About Discussion Boards

An online Discussion Board is a great tool for student communication and can be used for personal introductions, responding to topics before class, continuing an in-class discussion after class ends, debates, role plays, presentations and for social interaction. A Discussion Board is divided into Forums and Threads. Instructors create the original topic (Forum) and students reply (Threads). Instructors have the option to assign a grade to students based on their participation within each Discussion Board Forum.

Respond to a Discussion Board Forum

  1. On the Course Menu, click Discussion Boards.
  2. On the Discussion Board page, click the Forum Name.

  3. On the Forum page, click the Create Thread button.

  4. Enter the Subject for the forum and type your response in the textbox.

    Optional Step:
Students can click the Browse My Computer button to add an attachment, then click the Submit button.

Your reply has been posted. Other students, along with your instructor, can now respond and keep an on-going discussion.
