Mainframe - Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday 2012: Monday, 01/16/2012
This article explains the 2012 Martin Luther King Day mainframe coverage.
The Data Center will provide 24/7 Operator coverage in the 1155 E 60th Street Machine Room, including minimal coverage across all University Holidays. Details for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday 2012 (Monday, 01/16/12) are given below.
For the 24 hours of Monday, 01/16/12, we will have minimal Operator coverage: one Computer Operator per 8-hour shift in attendance to respond to system prompts on both the UCHIMVS1 (Production) and UCHIBETA LPARs. This Operator will also respond to: requests for printed output; environmental alarms; telephone calls; and the I/O Window.
The Production Shop will not be staffed across the Holiday period. Production jobstreams may not be scheduled to run or requested to run during the Holiday in either Mainframe LPAR during this period of minimal Operator coverage.
The UCHIBETA LPAR will be available for Open Testing on Monday, 01/16/12, from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. UCHIBETA will have the normal complement of Online DataBases available. Availability of these databases may be manipulated by authorized requests to the Operator on duty.
You may request that Online DataBases which do not require the scheduling of Production jobstreams during this period of minimal Operator coverage be made available on the UCHIMVS1 (Production)LPAR. That availability may be manipulated by authorized requests.
Each Operator will monitor the I/O Window but since we will maintain only minimal Operator coverage, please call the Machine Room at (773)702-7626 to make arrangements before showing up.
Printed output will be available across the Holiday, barring printer problems, of course. Please alert Operations at (773)702-7626 about which jobs you wish to retrieve before coming to the I/O Window during this period of minimal Operator coverage.
Standard recovery procedures for administrative servers in the 1155 E 60th Street Machine Room are in place.
