CNetID Password

The CNet (CNetID) password authenticates you for all the common services you are eligible to use based on your affiliation with the University. Secure passwords at the University of Chicago must have at least twelve (12) characters and combine letters, numbers, and symbols. Choose passwords that are memorable but not easily guessed, that don't contain any dictionary words or information that a hacker could glean about you from the Internet or through social media, and which contain some symbols (e.g., !, #, %), uppercase letters, and numbers. For more information on how to choose a good password that will keep your online information secure, see Choosing Good Passwords or Passphrases and Keeping Them Secure.

An alternative to the CNetID password is the CNetID passphrase.
